Bhoomi pujan held for Kedarnath temple in Delhi

New Delhi, July 10

The Shri Kedarnath Dham Delhi Trust, a charitable trust established under the Indian Trusts Act, organised the bhoomi pujan samaroh of Shri Kedarnath temple on Wednesday.

The ceremony began with a kalash yatra, followed by havan and bhoomi pujan. A sacred stone brought from Kedarnath Dham was worshipped, symbolising the sanctity and connection to the original shrine. The event was graced by Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand CM.

Dhami said, “It is my privilege to be present here on this auspicious occasion. The mention of the Burari region can be found in all our ancient texts, and its connection dates back to the Mahabharata era. This holy land, being the abode of Dayanidhan Baba Kedarnath, who is a symbol of the origins of Uttarakhand and Sanatan culture, will undoubtedly become a modern symbol of our culture and eternal faith in the times to come. The construction of this temple will strengthen the devotion of Shiva devotees and also promote Sanatan culture.”

Swami Kailashanand Giri highlighted the temple’s potential impact, saying, “The construction of this temple in Delhi is a significant step in allowing more devotees to receive the blessings of Baba Kedarnath. This temple will be a beacon of faith and spirituality for countless people.”

The ceremony also saw the presence of Ajay Tamta, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, along with all seven MPs from Delhi, and Surendra Routela, founder and national president of Shri Kedarnath Dham Delhi Trust.

Routela shared the vision behind the trust’s efforts, “Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand is a centre of faith for millions of people. Keeping that faith in mind, we established this trust and aimed to construct a grand temple dedicated to Baba Kedarnath in Delhi. The materials used in constructing this temple will be chosen with the next 100 years in mind. This 3-acre site will host the four Dhams, with the largest temple being dedicated to Kedarnath, followed by Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri.”
