The victim, senior doctor Amit Lathwal, stated in his complaint that he was passing through the hospital premises when he noticed a traffic jam being caused by a white car.

He signalled the driver to reverse the car and clear the way, however, instead of complying, the driver allegedly tried to ram the vehicle into the doctor, but failed.

The driver then tried to do the same two more times, and fled the scene.

The incident has sparked anger and concern among AIIMS doctors, who have demanded strict action against the accused.

The police have registered a case of attempt to commit culpable homicide against the driver, and initiated an investigation. CCTV footage from the hospital premises has been seized, and eyewitnesses are being traced.

A senior police officer said, “We are analysing the evidence and will apprehend the accused soon.”
