While the deceased’s family members termed the incident an accident and denied further comments, locals raised some questions. They alleged it may have been a targeted attack stemming from personal enmity.

A senior officer investigating the matter said the family did not express any suspicions of foul play. The businessman’s son is settled in the UK and his daughter is in Bangalore. He lived here with his wife, the officer added.

“A case has been registered. With help from the CCTV footage, we have retrieved the vehicle’s registration number and identified its owner, who had sold the car recently. A manhunt is underway to nab the car driver and he will be arrested soon”, said DLF phase 2 Station-House Officer (SHO) Inspector Manoj Kumar.
