BJP accuses Kejriwal of plunging city into chaos, communism

In a joint press conference, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva and MPs Manoj Tiwari, Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Bansuri Swaraj expressed strongly criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its newly appointed Chief Minister-designate Atishi on Tuesday.

Sachdeva accused Arvind Kejriwal of plunging the city into “chaos and communism” by proposing Atishi’s name for the top position. He criticised Atishi, calling her a “puppet CM”, questioning whether Kejriwal or his deputy Manish Sisodia would control the administration. “The only question now is whether the remote control will be in Kejriwal’s hands or Sisodia’s,” he said.

Sachdeva also condemned AAP’s efforts to rebrand itself, asserting that they cannot obscure the party’s record of corruption. “Kejriwal may change the face of his government, but in the 2025 Delhi Assembly poll, the main problem will still be the corruption of the government,” he added.

Tiwari echoed these sentiments, describing Atishi as following an “urban-Naxal ideology” and suggesting that her appointment is merely a ploy to distract from AAP’s failures. “The damage Kejriwal has done to Delhi cannot be undone by any resignation or the appointment of another Chief Minister for just 2.5 months,” Tiwari said.

Sehrawat criticised Atishi for wielding unofficial powers over the past few months, questioning her effectiveness. “If Atishi could not improve the situation while wielding invisible powers, how will she perform with an official title?” Sehrawat asked.

Bansuri further condemned Atishi’s appointment, claiming it reflected a continuation of stagnation in Delhi’s development.
