Candidates from 12 wards of the Municipal Corporation Delhi (MCD), going to poll in a week, joined by local workers began a door-to-door outreach campaign at 7.30 am, urging residents to support the party. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said the response indicated a strong edge for the party. He said, “Based on the public support received during the party’s pre-election campaign on Sunday, our internal assessment is that the BJP is winning 11 of the 12 wards, and a major reason for this is our organisational strength, which has the ability to identify its voters and get them to vote.”
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta led the day’s campaign. She held seven major meetings across Ashok Vihar, Dwarka B, Greater Kailash, Sangam Vihar A, Sainik Vihar and Vinod Nagar. At Vinod Nagar, she said, “I am confident that the people of Vinod Nagar will give a befitting reply to Arvind Kejriwal for giving a ticket to a councillor with corruption charges by defeating her.” Appealing to voters in Sangam Vihar A and Narayana, she added, “I urge voters to join the triple engine government and pave the way for solving the area’s water problem and ensuring cleanliness.”
MP Manoj Tiwari addressed Purvanchal dominated gatherings, saying, “The BJP understands the importance of the Purvanchal community in Delhi’s economy, and its direct benefits will be seen in the development of the colonies inhabited by Purvanchal residents.”
Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra urged cadres to work at full strength, stating, “Workers should contest the elections with full force and register a bigger victory than the 2022 elections, so that the Aam Aadmi Party’s anti-BJP campaign is blunted.”
Throughout the day, several MPs, MLAs, district leaders and office-bearers fanned out across the wards, holding community meetings as the party intensified its final phase of campaigning.
