BJP hits back at Sisodia over ‘saam, daam, dand, bhed’ remarks
The Delhi unit of the BJP on Thursday lashed out at AAP leader Manish Sisodia over his social media post accusing the BJP of using “saam, daam, dand, bhed” (persuasion, incentives, punishment, and division) to come to power in Delhi. BJP leaders termed the statement a direct insult to the democratic mandate of the people.
Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said Sisodia’s remarks not only disrespected the people’s vote but also exposed his own “hypocrisy.” “It reminds one of the old saying - ‘If the sieve complains, what about the strainer with 72 holes?’” Kapoor said.
He accused the former Deputy Chief Minister of trying to deflect attention from his own defeat and corruption allegations surrounding him.
The BJP also countered Sisodia’s claims that the current government was formed through undemocratic means, stating that Delhi voters had already made up their minds to seek accountability from AAP on the liquor scam. “People of Delhi rejected AAP because of the liquor policy scam masterminded by Sisodia. In 2027, Punjab people will also hold the party accountable for the same,” Kapoor added.
