AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh slammed the BJP, accusing it of insulting Purvanchali voters in Delhi and attempting to disenfranchise them on Thursday.

Singh said AAP would not allow any attempt to disenfranchise Purvanchalis in Delhi. “In Delhi, Purvanchali people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, who have been living here for 30-40 years, will not be deprived of their votes. You may want to delete their votes but the AAP will never allow this to happen,” he said.

He accused the BJP of labeling Purvanchalis as ‘Bangladeshis’ and ‘Rohingyas’ and filing applications to have their votes deleted.

Singh claimed that a BJP office-bearer submitted an application to delete the votes of 11,000 people. “In Janakpuri, 24 BJP workers filed an application to delete 4,874 votes. In Tughlakabad, 15 BJP workers submitted an application to delete 2,435 votes. At booth number 117 in Tughlakabad, out of a total of 1,337 votes, applications were filed to delete 554 votes,” he said.
