BJP has termed the word ‘Sheesh Mahal’(glass palace) referring to the CM residence. Verma’s call for transparency comes amidst ongoing political tensions as he prepares for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, where he is set to face AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit.
In a letter to Chief Minister Atishi, Verma said that the lavish residence, built with taxpayer money, should be open for scrutiny by the public. “The people of Delhi deserve to see how their tax contributions have been utilised,” he stated. “This building is no longer just a residence, but has become an important symbol of the history of governance and administration of Delhi.”
Verma’s letter suggested Chief Minister Atishi to declare the residence a tourist spot and allocate a time slot from 10 am to 4 pm for the public to visit.
