The Delhi State Women’s Wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a protest outside the residence of BJP leader Parvesh Verma on Saturday, accusing him of distributing cash to women in exchange of votes in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The protesters condemned the act as an attempt to buy votes and undermine the democratic process.

The protest, led by AAP Women’s Wing president Sarika Chaudhary, was organised after reports emerged that Verma had been distributing Rs 1,100 to women in the New Delhi Assembly constituency. The protesters marched to Verma’s residence, demanding that the BJP leader explains his actions.

Chaudhary criticised Verma for attempting to “deceive” voters, especially women, in the AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s constituency. “We also want Rs 1,100,” Chaudhary declared.

“Why is Parvesh Verma giving money only to women in the New Delhi constituency? This is an attempt to buy votes and deceive them. We demand the same amount. Why are other women in Delhi being excluded?” questioned Chaudhary.

The protesters, including women from various parts of Delhi such as Nangloi and Kirari, expressed their frustration over what they viewed as selective treatment. “Are we not residents of Delhi? Why are women from only one constituency being favored in this so-called ‘government scheme’?” Chaudhary further quizzed.

Another protester questioned the legitimacy of the handouts. “If this is a government scheme, it should be available to all women in Delhi. Why only women in the New Delhi constituency are receiving Rs. 1,100? This is clearly an attempt to buy votes,” she said.

Chaudhary, in her speech outside Verma’s residence, called the cash distribution a criminal act and urged the Election Commission to take immediate and stringent action. “This is wrong. We are being stopped, harassed and pushed around. Don’t we belong to Delhi? We demand same Rs 1,100 being given to women in New Delhi,” she stated.
