The case dates back to August 25 when a complainant approached the CBI alleging that a Sub-Inspector and a Head Constable posted at the Ashok Vihar police station in Northwest Delhi demanded Rs 3 lakh for not registering an FIR against him.
After negotiations, the cop agreed to take Rs 2 lakh and directed the complainant to pay him Rs 1 lakh on the same day.
Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap and caught the policeman red-handed while accepting the bribe. Subsequently, he was arrested.
The agency said further investigation was on in the matter and involvement of any other official from the police station is under scanner.
The CBI advised citizens to report the instances of corruption by government officials if they come across any such instances. People may do so by visiting the office of the CBI, ACB, Delhi, on the first floor of the CBI Building, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi, or call at 011-24367887 and 9650394847 to lodge their complaints or share any relevant information.
