Celebrations galore in Capital after win
The Capital erupted in celebrations after the BJP secured a historic victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 out of 70 seats. The win ended the 27-year wait for the party in the national capital, with jubilant scenes unfolding across the city as early trends indicated a decisive return to power for the saffron party.
Outside the BJP’s Delhi headquarters, supporters burst into celebrations, dancing to dhol beats, chanting “Jai Shree Ram”, and waving party flags.
BJP workers cheered and celebrated the victory of their party leaders, including Parvesh Verma, who defeated AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Cutouts of the lotus symbol, BJP’s election emblem, were proudly displayed, while family members of winning BJP candidates joined in the festivities.
A man dressed as ‘PK’, character from the popular Bollywood film “PK”, also joined the celebrations outside the BJP office, adding a festive touch to the atmosphere. The celebrations continued at the BJP national headquarters, where top leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah, and BJP National President JP Nadda, gathered to mark the historic win.
In stark contrast, mood at the AAP headquarters shifted dramatically as early trends, which initially showed the party winning 34 seats, turned to disappointment as the day progressed, with AAP securing only 22 seats.
The celebrations that began earlier in the day were replaced by a gloomy silence, and by evening, the AAP office stood deserted, reflecting the party’s disheartening result.
Meanwhile, the Congress, which failed to secure any seats in the Delhi Assembly elections, was conspicuously absent from the celebrations. The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee office remained silent, echoing the party’s continued struggle in the national capital.
