CM Gupta vows Rs 110 cr support for firefighting robots

In a major push toward modernising Delhi’s fire safety infrastructure, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday inspected a fleet of indigenously developed advanced firefighting vehicles and robots at the Delhi Secretariat. The showcase included the ARMOUR (Automated Robotic Mist Omni Utility Rakshak) robot and high-pressure water mist systems, demonstrated by Delhi Fire Service (DFS) personnel in the presence of Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood.

The Chief Minister announced that the government has allocated a dedicated budget of Rs 110 crore this year for the procurement of cutting-edge firefighting vehicles and equipment. She criticised previous administrations for neglecting the fire services, saying that outdated systems had hampered emergency response in the past.

“We are committed to transforming the Delhi Fire Service into a world-class emergency force. These robotic systems and advanced vehicles will not only boost our response capability but also protect the lives of our fire personnel,” Gupta said. “In congested areas where quick access is difficult, robotic systems will prove to be game-changers.”

The CM said the new equipment, ranging from robotic vehicles to drones, Hazmat vans, high-tech fire towers, and aerial ladder platforms, will drastically improve operational efficiency and public safety in fire-prone zones.

Home Minister Ashish Sood said the government is focused on building the most advanced urban infrastructure in the country. “The risk of fire is high in unauthorised colonies and narrow lanes. These areas need special attention. With the integration of advanced technology, we are ensuring safer environments for both residents and fire personnel,” he said.

Both leaders stressed that the goal is to create a future-ready fire service equipped to tackle emergencies swiftly, making Delhi a benchmark in urban fire safety management.
