Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday inaugurated the 10th edition of Broadway Ramlila at Netaji Subhash Place, Pitampura, describing it as a celebration of timeless values and cultural heritage.

Organised by the Aryan Heritage Foundation, the grand stage production will run from September 26 to October 1. This year’s theme, “Charitron Ka Adhyayan” (A Study of Characters), goes beyond the traditional retelling to explore the psychological and philosophical dimensions of the Ramayana’s figures.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister said, “Every character in the Ramayan gives us immense inspiration. Perhaps that is why no matter how many times we watch the Ramleela, it never feels old. Each presentation, though familiar, brings new joy and a sense of devotion.” She also extended greetings to devotees, adding that the Delhi Government has made special efforts this year to support Ramlila committees across the city.

Broadway Ramlila, created by Rajender Mittal and Saurabh Mittal, presents a modern three-hour format with 3D stage design, 20 original soundtracks by acclaimed singers including Udit Narayan and Kailash Kher, and narration by actor Sourabh Raaj Jain and actress Samridhi Shukla. Directed by Shashidharan Nair, the production highlights stories such as Ahalya’s redemption and Kaikeyi’s dilemmas, presenting the Ramayana as both history and a guide to human values.

Chairman Ishwar Bansal said the show has redefined how Ramlila is experienced in India, inspiring many committees to adopt shorter, more engaging formats. The organisers have also upgraded facilities this year, introducing an air-conditioned lounge, food court and seamless entry systems, with dignitaries, diplomats and celebrities expected among the audience.

Since its inception in 2015, Broadway Ramlila has drawn national attention, even being screened in cinemas. Organisers said the 10th edition is their most ambitious yet, aiming not only to entertain but also to inspire audiences with the Ramayana’s timeless wisdom.
