The event, organised by Aatmyog Sansthan, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of locals, senior citizens, women and yoga practitioners from across the area.
Addressing the gathering, CM Rekha Gupta emphasised that yoga was not merely an exercise but a holistic way of life rooted in ancient Indian wisdom. “Yoga harmonises the body, mind and soul. It leads to a stress-free, disciplined and positive lifestyle. If India wants to be prosperous, it must first be healthy,” she said, urging citizens to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine.
In a key announcement, the CM revealed that, for the first time, the Delhi Government would organize yoga sessions at 11 prominent locations across the city to mark International Yoga Day on Saturday. She will personally lead the session at Sonia Vihar Water Sports Club on the Yamuna riverfront. The events will start at 6 am and include venues such as Chhatrasal Stadium, Thyagaraj Stadium, East Vinod Nagar Sports Complex, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Bawana), and others.
Local organisations and community groups will participate to make the occasion a city-wide celebration.
Reiterating her government’s commitment to holistic health, CM Gupta said more public yoga camps, naturopathy clinics and wellness centres would be promoted in Delhi. She praised the efforts of Aatmyog Sansthan and credited such institutions for their role in building a “Swasth Delhi, Viksit Delhi”. She also commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in making yoga a globally recognised movement.
The CM also announced that this year’s Teej festival would be celebrated across Delhi with traditional fervour. Recalling the long-standing tradition of Teej festivities in Ram Bagh, she said the celebrations would be organized on a grand scale across the city. She called the unwavering support of the public — especially women — her greatest source of strength. “The faith and respect that Delhi’s women have shown in me is something I will never take lightly,” she said.
