CM vows support for Prajapati community, promotes ‘Vocal for Local’, indigenous art

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said that the Delhi Government would take every possible step for the welfare and empowerment of the Prajapati (Kumhar) community.

Speaking at the Prajapati Mahakumbh organised by the National Prajapati Federation at Adarsh Ramlila Ground in Narela, the CM lauded the community’s craftsmanship and contribution to preserving India’s traditional heritage.

“The government is fully committed to supporting the Prajapati community in every possible way,” the CM said, adding that initiatives focused on education, skill development and economic empowerment will be strengthened to ensure their holistic development.

The event was attended by North West MP Yogender Chandolia, MLA Rajkaran Khatri, several dignitaries, social organisations and members of the community.

Highlighting the importance of indigenous art and the ‘Vocal for Local’ mission, CM Gupta reaffirmed her government’s commitment to promoting handicrafts and making artisans self-reliant. “Our government is taking strong steps to promote locally handcrafted products and to make artisans economically independent. Traditional craftsmanship is not just a livelihood but a reflection of our country’s cultural identity,” she said.

The CM also emphasised that the Delhi Government would continue to take concrete measures to safeguard the interests of artisans and local industries. “For years, the Prajapati community has not received the recognition and opportunities it deserves. Now, under this government, strong and meaningful steps will be taken to ensure their upliftment,” she added.

Gupta said her government’s efforts were in line with PM Narendra Modi’s vision of swadeshi and self-reliance.
