At present, the Delhi Police are interrogating the accused and trying to determine whether there was a larger motive behind the attack or if it was merely the result of his personal obsession.
The police have said that the help of mental health experts may also be sought as the statements of the accused have often appeared inconsistent and imaginative. His mother had already claimed that his mental condition was not sound.
Along with the Delhi Police, other agencies are also questioning him and investigating the matter.
During interrogation, Rajesh told the police that he had come to appeal to the Chief Minister not to remove dogs from Delhi.
However, he alleged that CM Rekha Gupta did not listen to him. Enraged by this, he attacked the Chief Minister.
According to police sources, Rajesh Sakariya travelled without a ticket and reached the New Delhi railway station, where he asked someone about the address of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s residence.
After that, he first attempted to reach the Chief Minister’s private residence by Metro, but got down at the wrong Metro station.
He then asked passersby for directions and reached the Chief Minister’s private residence by rickshaw in Shalimar Bagh.
After reaching there, he was given the address of the CM’s camp office in Civil Lines where the alleged attack happened.
