Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has stirred controversy with her recent remarks praising the Brahmin community for “igniting the flame of knowledge” and referring to government officials as Hanuman.

Gupta, while addressing the All India Brahmin Conference organised by Shri Brahmin Sabha in Pitampura on Sunday, lauded the Brahmin community’s role in shaping Indian society, saying, “The Brahmin community has always been at the forefront of enlightenment and the protection of society. If anyone is igniting the flame of knowledge in society, it is our Brahmin community. They worship not only scriptures but also weapons. Only through weapons and scriptures can we protect society and the country today.”

She went on to say that all governments, irrespective of political affiliation, should work for the welfare of the Brahmin community. “No matter which government is in power, it should work for the welfare of the Brahmin community,” Gupta said.

Meanwhile, her remarks took another controversial turn when she referred to government officials as “Hanuman”, implying that they are dedicated to carrying out her vision and instructions. “When Delhi’s CM spewed that repulsive comment about Hanuman ji, calling Delhi government officials ‘Hanuman’ who ‘remember their powers when their tail is set on fire’, where was their precious Hindu pride? Dead silent, as expected,” AAP Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj posted on X.
