College refused admission to 12 single girl child applicants

Delhi University (DU) had introduced a single girl child quota across its undergraduate programmes starting from the 2024-2025 academic session earlier this year in May, aiming to enhance inclusivity in its admission processes. However, St Stephen’s College rejected the quota, calling it “unconstitutional” on Wednesday and refusing admission to 22 students, including 12 single girl child applicants, under this category.

As per DU’s data, a total of 764 students have benefitted from the supernumerary quota across various UG courses.The university has also confirmed that 74,108 seats have been filled in the current session, including those allocated under the single girl child category.
