The campaign, led by DPCC president Devender Yadav, drew active participation from residents, shopkeepers, street vendors and workers from various sectors.
Addressing the gathering, Yadav claimed the campaign had received an overwhelming response, with lakhs of Delhiites having already signed the petition. He said the Congress’ initiative, titled “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chod”, is aimed at exposing what the party alleges were attempts by the BJP to subvert electoral verdicts.
“Vote theft is a gross misdeed that undermines democracy. Rahul Gandhi has exposed malpractices in just two Assembly segments, which proves a larger conspiracy to overturn people’s mandate,” Yadav said. He called upon students and the general public to unite to protect democratic rights and prevent vote manipulation.
The campaign was jointly organised by District Congress Committee president Rajkumar Jain and saw the participation of several senior leaders, including AICC Delhi in-charge Kazi Nizamuddin, District Observer Dr PK Mishra, Prabhari Manoj Yadav, former-MLA Bhisham Sharma, and other party representatives.
Responding to the campaign, Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor dismissed the allegations as baseless, calling the Babarpur event “an eyewash to please Rahul Gandhi”. He said, “The Congress’ repeated attacks on the EC and India’s democratic system are alienating it from the people.”
