Delhi Congress leaders and workers convened at the Jantar Mantar on Thursday, demanding SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch’s resignation and the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the Adani affair. The protest, led by Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav, featured key figures such as Sachin Pilot, Kanhaiya Kumar and Udit Raj.

Yadav criticised the Modi government for its alleged bias towards the wealthy, particularly in favour of industrialist Gautam Adani. “The Congress and Rahul Gandhi have been consistently raising concerns about the widening gap between the rich and the poor. The government’s policies are designed to make a select few richer, at the expense of common people,” Yadav said. He also demanded that the SEBI Chairperson step down, accusing her of having links with the Adani group, which were exposed in a recent report by the Hindenburg Research.

Yadav stressed that only a JPC would reveal the truth. “If there is nothing to hide, then why is the government avoiding a JPC probe?” Yadav questioned.

Pilot, addressing the protesters, praised Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi for their relentless efforts in holding the Modi government accountable. “Their consistent questioning inside and outside Parliament has forced the Modi government to make U-turns on several decisions,” he said.

The protest also targeted the AAP government in Delhi, with Yadav accusing it of corruption and mismanagement. “The AAP leaders, who once claimed to be champions of honesty, are now behind bars for corruption. It is ironic that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal remains in his position while his party members are involved in corruption scandals,” Yadav remarked.
