The Delhi Congress on Sunday intensified its campaign in the Chandni Mahal ward as party candidate Kunwar Shahzad Ahmed led a silent protest, wearing black clothes against the sitting and former MLA and former councillor. Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav also joined the demonstration by appearing in black attire to express solidarity to the cause.

Yadav said, “I support the silent protest by the Congress candidate against the sitting and former MLA and former councillor in the MCD by-elections. I stand with Shahzad and the Congress workers of Chandni Chowk Assembly in their fight for their rights and justice.”

He stressed that the protest reflected the Congress’s stand against those undermining democratic processes. He said, “Democracy is the soul of our country and it is high time to teach those who kill democracy by stealing votes and working behind the scenes for their victory a lesson.”

Yadav added that senior leaders, workers, and locals had joined the campaign to highlight issues of corruption and inaction.
