In a significant political shift, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav welcomed a notable group of leaders and workers from the BJP, AAP and the BSP into the Congress today. This move marks a continued trend of defections to the Congress, reflecting the party’s growing influence and appeal.

Yadav, accompanied by former MLA Surender Kumar and Indrajit Singh, offered the party scarf to the new members in a formal induction ceremony. He attributed their shift to the Congress’ ideology and its pro-poor stance, which he said has been strongly advocated by party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.

Prominent figures joining the Congress include Krishna Parmal, former AAP councillor from Ward No. 50, Mangolpuri Assembly; Sanjay Thakur, former councillor from Ward No. 51; Gaurav Sharma; Prakash Ji Maharaj; Surender Jitu; and Deepak from BSP’s Ward No 51. Also joining are Jitu Sagar from Ward 50, Rajesh Kumar, BJP’s SC Morcha Mandal president; Rajesh Jain; Nitin; Paras Advocate; and over 100 supporters.

Yadav expressed optimism about the party’s enhanced strength in the Delhi Assembly elections, stating, “With the addition of two former councillors from Mangolpuri, the Congress would gain significant momentum. We are committed to respecting and accommodating our new members in roles that reflect their experience and contributions.”
