Congress to launch ‘Delhi Nyay Yatra’

Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav on Monday said a month-long ‘Delhi Nyay Yatra’ will commence on November 8, inspired by Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.

The march, aimed at engaging with city residents and addressing their concerns ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, will start from Rajghat and conclude on December 4.

During a formal launch at the Constitution Club here, Yadav said, “This journey mirrors the historic Bharat Jodo Yatra, which spanned over 4,000 km from Kanyakumari to Srinagar to protect the Constitution and save democracy.”

The event saw the unveiling of the ‘Nyay Yatra’ logo by former DPCC chief Jai Prakash Agarwal, while Subhash Chopra, another former president, introduced the yatra T-shirt. Yadav detailed the yatra’s four phases, which will cover multiple Assembly segments across Delhi. The first phase will run from November 8 to 13, starting from Chandni Chowk and concluding at Shalimar Bagh.

The subsequent phases will cover areas from Karawal Nagar to Jangpura, Badarpur to Dwarka, and finally from Hari Nagar to Timarpur, each involving 250-300 Congress workers. “The yatra’s aim is to closely interact with people to understand their problems and find solutions to their long-standing issues,” Yadav explained. He criticised the AAP government for failing to address the public’s concerns over the past 11 years, claiming they came to power with unrealistic promises but have ultimately “looted the public”.

Yadav did not spare the Modi government either, asserting, “Modi came to power vowing to end price rise and unemployment, but has achieved nothing in his 11 years as Prime Minister. His actions are weakening the Constitution and bringing hardship to 95 per cent of the population.”

He accused Arvind Kejriwal of betraying voters, claiming the former Chief Minister sold “big dreams”, but delivered little. “Kejriwal destroyed the Capital, which was developed into a world-class city by the Sheila Dikshit government in 15 years,” Yadav stated, adding that Kejriwal’s promises of free power and water have turned into inflated bills and reliance on tanker supplies.

Highlighting the pervasive corruption within the AAP government, Yadav pointed out that numerous leaders, including Kejriwal, face serious criminal charges.
