Amidst the splendour of the 71st Miss World Pageant, a remarkable display of athleticism and determination unfolded at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here on Saturday.

Lucija Begic, hailing from Croatia, etched her name in the annals of Miss World history by clinching the prestigious Miss World sports challenge title, propelling her into the coveted top 40 of the pageant.

Contestants from around the globe showcased their fitness, health, sports skills and positive mindset in a series of rigorous competitions.

Thirty-two finalists, representing all continents, vied for the Miss World Sports/Miss World Sportswoman title, demonstrating their prowess in various sports, including cricket, football shootout, shuttle run, hockey shootout and a 400m race. The event received support from esteemed Indian sports bodies, including Hockey India and the All India Football Federation, who provided players and coaches to engage with the delegates and showcase India’s sporting prowess.

As the winner was announced, Julia Morley, Chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organisation, expressed her delight, stating, “We are thrilled to announce that Lucija Begic from Croatia has won the coveted Miss World Sports Challenge this year. She embodies the spirit of fitness, health and positivity that this competition seeks to highlight. Her dedication and excellence left no doubt that she deserves this honour.”
