The cyber police have arrested a man for duping people through an online task-based investment scam. He was produced in a city court on Monday and has been sent to judicial custody.

The police said the accused, Harsh, a resident of Kosli in Rewari district. A raid conducted by the cyber-crime police station in Manesar led to his arrest on Sunday.

The police said the accused used Telegram to contact victims, offering them paid online tasks as part of a fake investment scheme. During the arrest, officers recovered two gold biscuits, one gold chain, a mobile phone, a laptop, several ATM cards and multiple bank cheque books from him.

“Preliminary investigation has revealed the accused worked as a channel partner in a larger cyber fraud network. He served as a link between local operatives and the main gang leaders, providing accounts, SIM cards and other tools used in the fraud,” said a spokesperson for Gurugram police.
