Dairy relocation: Protect animal rights activist, High Court tells Delhi Police

New Delhi, August 26

The Delhi High Court has directed the police to deploy a beat officer at the residence of animal rights activist Sunayana Sibal, who had petitioned for the relocation of dairies from Bhalswa to Ghogha Dairy Colony.

The order was issued by a Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet PS Arora on August 23, after Sibal reported an incident where two unidentified men attempted to threaten her at her home.

The court also instructed the Police Commissioner to conduct a threat perception analysis of Sibal by August 27.

The case stems from a July 19 order in which the High Court directed the Delhi Government and relevant authorities, including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), to relocate all dairies from Bhalswa within four weeks.

This was in response to concerns about milch cattle feeding on garbage from landfills. Following the order, the MCD issued notices to dairy owners, demanding they vacate the encroached premises.
