Dance teacher held for sexually assaulting minor girl

A dance academy teacher was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a Class XII student in the Jahngirpuri area of Northwest Delhi, the police said.

A complaint in this regard was lodged by the victim’s father at the Jahangirpuri police station on September 14, an official said.

The 17-year-old victim resides with her family in the Bhalswa Dairy area and studies at a private school in Model Town.

The victim, in her statement, said she got herself enrolled in a dance academy in the Jahangirpuri G block with her parents’ consent.

She mentioned that the accused, Aman, started training her in February. On one occasion, he called her alone to the academy, where he sexually assaulted her and threatened to ruin her career if she disclosed the incident to anyone.

Aman had allegedly raped her three times earlier. When he again tried to sexually assault her in September, she fled and stopped coming to the academy.

When her family members repeatedly questioned her about not attending the classes, she revealed the entire incident.

Her father then lodged a complaint at the Jahangirpuri police station, following which a case was registered under charges of rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, leading to his arrest.

The police are questioning other students of the academy in this regard, they added.
