Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya on Sunday emphasised the importance of fitness and balance in life while participating in the 43rd edition of the ‘Fit India: Sundays on Cycle’ event at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.

Speaking to the participants, the minister said, “Bicycle pedals teach us the greatest lesson of life — we move forward only when we maintain balance. This balance is the foundation of life, and it comes from fitness.”

Mandaviya encouraged citizens to dedicate at least an hour daily to physical activity, calling it crucial for building a Viksit Bharat. Over 1,000 participants, including teachers, athletes, fitness influencers, and youth from across Delhi, joined the cycling event, which also featured yoga sessions, skipping, fitness games and interactive zones for children.

The event coincided with World Teachers’ Day and included a street play dedicated to educators. Olympic medallist Abhishek Nain, chess champion Tania Sachdev, javelin thrower Sachin Yadav and Fit India Movement ambassador Rohtash Chaudhary also participated. Nain said, “As athletes, fitness is our foundation. Seeing people embrace cycling today reflects India’s growing culture of health.”

In a parallel initiative, NDMC Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal flagged off the KidyWidy Divya Marathon 2025 at Kartavya Path. The marathon, held as part of the 75th birthday celebrations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attracted thousands of children aged two to eight and their parents.
