The initiative, announced on Tuesday by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), has been introduced under the supervision of the Bureau of Immigration. Officials said the move is expected to streamline immigration clearance, cut waiting times and advance the airport’s sustainability efforts by significantly reducing the use of paper forms.
“The digital platform will enable passengers to complete the required arrival information ahead of travel, thereby removing the need to fill out paper cards on arrival,” DIAL said in a statement. Travellers will be permitted to submit their details up to three days before landing in India.
The airport operator noted that similar systems have been in use at major international hubs in countries, including Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea and Malaysia.
Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO-DIAL, said: “We are delighted to join hands with the Bureau of Immigration to launch the E-Arrival Card facility for international passengers. The initiative reflects the Centre’s commitment to delivering a world-class, hassle-free travel experience.”
