Following the meeting, the MPs addressed a press conference where they outlined key proposals discussed. The briefing was attended by Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, MPs Manoj Tiwari, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Yogendra Chandolia, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Praveen Khandelwal, NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal and Media Head Praveen Shankar Kapoor.
Yogendra Chandolia highlighted the MPs’ demand for the creation of an education hub and a world-class stadium in Narela. “Narela has the potential to become a major educational and sports centre, contributing significantly to the development of Delhi’s future generations,” he said.
Malhotra emphasised the need to enhance metro connectivity in the region, specifically through the development of NaMo Bharat corridors and fast-track routes to improve daily commuting. “We have asked for the expansion of metro services, particularly to high-demand areas such as Central Vista, to ease the movement of Delhiites,” he said.
MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat called for the expedited completion of projects under the ‘In-situ Housing Scheme,’ which aims to improve housing for slum residents. “It is essential to include more slum areas under this scheme to provide better housing and amenities for Delhi’s underprivileged,” Sehrawat said.
Bidhuri echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of expanding the scheme to benefit more residents. “We need to ensure more areas are covered to uplift the quality of life for marginalised communities,” he added.
The MPs also discussed strategies to reduce congestion and pollution in the capital. Manoj Tiwari proposed further metro connectivity expansions, including a link to Central Vista to ease access for employees and visitors. “We’ve also suggested connecting Delhi Airport, Dwarka and Gurugram and extending the Tughlakabad metro line to Kalindi Kunj and Jaitpur,” he explained.
Additionally, the MPs called for the development of key corridors such as the Delhi-Saharanpur-Neemrana-Behror Corridor and the Delhi-Karnal NaMo Bharat Corridor. They also proposed fast-tracking infrastructure projects such as the Gurugram-Faridabad-Noida corridor and a link between Delhi Airport and Jewar Airport.
