Delhi: BJP’s mayoral candidate mere rubber stamp, says Congress' Pahuja

Accusing the BJP of promoting the use of women as rubber stamps, Congress mayoral candidate Seema Pahuja has challenged saffron party candidate Raj Rani Malhotra to an open debate.

Pahuja, who released her manifesto on Sunday, said while the BJP talked of women empowerment, it chose a candidate who could not even speak for herself.

“I challenge their candidate, Raj Rani Malhotra, to an open debate for just 10 minutes on the city’s issues and her vision. She exemplifies the BJP’s agenda of making the Mayor a mere rubbers stamp. The men around her are speaking on her behalf while she’s the one lurking behind. Gurugram needs an independent mayor to get back to its glory,” said Pahuja.

Citing sanitation as the focus in her manifesto, Pahuja said if elected, she would give city its biggest gift by making it garbage free. According to her proposed plan, proper sites will be designated for dumping and door-to-door garbage collection will be improved.

“A permanent solution will be found to the waterlogging in Gurugram. Old drains will be cleaned and cemented for water drainage. The work on the construction of the Gurugram Civil Hospital will also begin soon,” she said.

She said facilities would be increased at the Sector 10 Civil Hospital.

She claimed that the construction work of the Mata Sheetla temple would be completed soon, and the work on the bus stand would also begin at the earliest. The roads will be made pothole-free,” read her manifesto.

Pahuja also said all squares and intersections of the city would be beautified. Guru Dronacharya’s temple would be expanded, and the resident welfare associations (RWAs) would be given funds for the work, it further read.
