Delhi CM Rekha Gupta on Friday announced the government’s plan to expand the network of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) Kendras across the national capital in compliance with the applicable regulations.

Interacting with the public at her residence, CM Gupta criticised the previous administration for not implementing the scheme effectively. “The previous government did not implement the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana. Maybe because the word ‘Pradhan Mantri’ was attached to the name of this public welfare scheme,” she remarked.

Gupta, who made the statement on the occasion of the seventh Jan Aushadhi Diwas, assured that her administration is committed to making affordable medicines accessible to all. “Today, on the occasion of the seventh Jan Aushadhi Diwas, I want to congratulate the people of Delhi on the decision to open Janaushadhi Kendras everywhere the rules allow in Delhi,” she said. Highlighting the government’s adherence to legal mandates, she said: “We will follow the decision of the High Court, which says that there should be a Janaushadhi Kendra within 500 meters of every hospital.”

Meanwhile a day earlier, CM Gupta held a session with traders, business people, and business organisations to gather their suggestions for the upcoming Delhi Budget 2025.
