The Delhi Government on Wednesday announced an increase in the minimum wage, a decision that Chief Minister Atishi hailed as a major victory for workers in the Capital. Under the new rates, unskilled workers will earn Rs 18,066, semi-skilled workers Rs 19,929 and skilled workers Rs 21,917.

She said, “The government has once again decided to increase the minimum wage in Delhi. Delhi has the highest minimum wage in the entire country.”

She added that the new rates would be effective from October 1 and drew a sharp contrast between Delhi’s wages and those in BJP-ruled states. Atishi attributed this achievement to a decade of governance by the Aam Aadmi Party under Arvind Kejriwal.
