New Delhi, August 1
The Delhi Government on Thursday approved the upgrade and strengthening of Okhla Estate Marg, a key road serving the Tughlakabad, Okhla and Kalkaji areas. Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Atishi issued the order to enhance safety and improve infrastructure in the Capital.
The Okhla Estate Road, running between Sarita Vihar Underpass and Guru Ravidas Marg T-Point in South East Delhi, caters to thousands of commuters daily. While approving the project, Atishi said, “CM Arvind Kejriwal has promised to provide excellent road infrastructure to Delhiites. In this direction, the government will upgrade Okhla Estate Road, an important road in South-East Delhi.”
Officials noted that heavy traffic caused cracks in several areas of the road surface. In response, the PWD conducted an inspection with experts, and the PWD Minister has instructed that the road be strengthened as soon as possible.
Atishi directed officials to ensure that all safety and quality standards are strictly followed during the strengthening process and that commuters experience minimal inconvenience during construction. — TNS
