New Delhi, August 20
Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi conducted a thorough inspection of the West Zone on Tuesday, visiting Janakpuri (South) Ward and Mahavir Enclave Ward to assess sanitation and waste management. Accompanied by local MLA Rajesh Rishi and Additional Commissioner Tariq Thomas, the Mayor found significant issues, including garbage piles along the main roads and around Dhalao Ghars, as well as broken boundary walls.
“Garbage has piled up around the Dhalao Ghars and has spread to the main roads. This is unacceptable,” Mayor Oberoi stated during her visit. She directed officials to prioritise garbage collection and disposal in the affected wards.” No compromise will be made with the sanitation arrangements in Delhi,” she asserted.
“The Deputy Commissioner must ensure that no negligence occurs in sanitation-related matters,” she added.
The Mayor vowed to continue her inspections across all wards to ensure that sanitation work is effectively carried out at the ground level.
Meanwhile, LoP in Delhi Municipal Corporation (DMC) Raja Iqbal Singh said, “The entire responsibility for Delhi's sanitation lies with the ruling AAP in the corporation. The Mayor should stop making excuses and focus on working for the welfare of Delhi’s residents.”
