To facilitate the movement of guests, invitees and the general public attending the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, the Delhi Metro will begin operations at 4 am on all lines on August 15. The services will start simultaneously from all terminal stations across all lines, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced on Wednesday.

Trains will run at a frequency of 30 minutes from 4 am to 6 am. Thereafter, regular timetable will be followed for the rest of the day.

To assist attendees, the DMRC will provide special QR tickets to those carrying a valid invitation card issued by the Ministry of Defence for the Independence Day function. The nearest Metro stations to the Red Fort venue are Lal Quila, Jama Masjid and Delhi Gate.

The DMRC said the cost of travel for these guests will be reimbursed by the Ministry of Defence to the DMRC.
