Delhi-NCR schools among winners of nat'l youth Parliament competition

Dr Rajendra Prasad Kendriya Vidyalaya in Delhi and PM Shri KV, Hamirpur in Gurugram would be awarded trophies at the prize distribution ceremony to be held on Friday at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium, Parliament Library Building, within the Parliament House Complex.
The event would be presided over by Lok Sabha MP Bansuri Swaraj, who would present the awards to winning schools for their performances in the annual competition, organised by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
At the national level, Kendriya Vidyalaya ONGC Srikona from the Silchar region of Assam has been declared the overall winner. The school would receive the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Running Parliamentary Shield and a trophy. Its students are also set to present a repeat performance of their youth parliament sitting during the event.
Now in its 37th year, the competition was held among 175 Kendriya Vidyalayas across 25 regions. It is aimed at familiarising students with parliamentary procedures, fostering democratic values such as discipline, tolerance and leadership, and honing debating skills.
In addition to the national title, zonal awards would also be presented. These include KV Kathua (Jammu region) in the North zone, PM Shri KV No.1 AFS Chakeri, Kanpur (Lucknow region) in the Central zone, KV Mathura Cantt (Agra region) in the West zone and PM Shri KV No.1 Sagar (Jabalpur region) in the South zone.
