The shocking incident occurred after the child’s mother refused to marry the accused, whom she had met on social media about a year ago.

Police said the accused, identified as Sudhakar Singh, had been in contact with the woman online and had been pressuring her into a relationship.

Using a combination of technical surveillance and on-ground intelligence, police tracked the accused’s movements and discovered that he was travelling by train to Uttar Pradesh. Acting on this information, the team coordinated with local authorities and intercepted the Suhaildev Express at Lucknow Railway Station, where Sudhakar Singh was arrested and the child safely rescued.
