Delhi recorded 20,181 new Covid-19 infections, an official said—the city’s highest tally since May 2, when the devastating delta led to a surge in cases and fatalities.

The city’s positivity rate stood at 19.6 per cent. Seven fatalities were recorded on Saturday, a health bulletin said.

This tallies with a corresponding rise in Covid-19 cases in the city, driven this time by  Omicron, a highly transmissible variant of Covid-19.
