The incident was reported around 11:30 am on Friday, when a PCR call alerted Sangam Vihar police station. A team rushed to the spot and found the victim, Mohammad Irshad, critically injured.
He was taken to Majidia Maqbool Memorial Hospital, where he was declared dead, a senior police officer said.
Irshad, a first-year LLB student at Delhi University’s Campus Law Centre, had sustained multiple stab wounds, according to police.
Investigators said Irshad’s sister, an eyewitness, alleged that her brother was attacked by their uncle, Mubarak, 50, a mason; his wife, Rihana Khatoon, 47; and their sons, Ishtiyaq, 26, and a 15-year-old minor. All of them reside in the same neighbourhood, officers added.
A preliminary inquiry, based on CCTV footage from the area, indicated that an altercation had broken out earlier between the victim and the accused family members, which allegedly escalated into the fatal assault, police said.
The dispute reportedly arose from a petty issue regarding cleaning the surrounding area, according to authorities.
