In a landmark development aimed at strengthening public safety infrastructure at IGI Airport, Terminal-1, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), a unit of GMR, on Tuesday handed over land to Delhi Police for the construction of a domestic airport police station.

After completion of the construction work, the current police station, which is being operated in a temporary facility in G5 Building of GMR, will be shifted here.

The handing over of the land took place in presence of Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, Special CP (DPHCL) Robin Hibu and other dignitaries.

The land has been provided to Delhi Police by DIAL at a symbolic licence fee of Rs1 per annum. The step marks a significant milestone, especially considering that the proposal for a permanent police facility here had been pending since 2008.

The step will ensure enhanced security and better accessibility for the public at India’s busiest airport.
