He was nabbed from Haldwani in Uttarakhand, the source said. After allegedly killing his former 22-year-old live-in partner and a six-month-old toddler, Nikhil had attempted to die by suicide at the crime scene but failed, the police said, adding that he then fled to his hometown. A police team from Delhi tracked him down and apprehended him. Efforts are underway to bring him back for investigation.
Man killed in road accident
A man died after his motorcycle hit a divider and he came under a bus on a road connecting Anand Vihar to Seemapuri in East Delhi’s Vivek Vihar area on Wednesday, the police said. The incident took place around 6.20 am. A police team reached the spot and launched an investigation to ascertain the identity of the deceased, they added. Eyewitnesses said the speeding biker lost balance before hitting the divider and sliding under the bus. Further inquiry is on.
Retired teacher dies by suicide
A 69-year-old retired school teacher, Abhijit Gupta, allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the terrace of his house in Southeast Delhi’s Kalkaji area on Wednesday morning, the police said. Gupta was residing with his sister and was said to be suffering from depression. “He jumped from the third-floor terrace window of the building around 6 am,” a senior police officer said. During initial inquiry, it was found that Gupta had been suffering from depression, the officer said. No foul play is suspected in the matter, and all legal formalities are being followed.
