Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Devender Yadav has demanded the immediate rollback of the Power Purchase Agreement Charge (PPAC) hike imposed by discoms (distribution companies). He accused the Kejriwal Government of burdening Delhi’s electricity consumers with unjustified tariff increases.

He warned of massive pfrotests if the rollback is not effected. “Discoms had raised the PPAC by 6 per cent in July 2022 and by 10 per cent in June 2023. The latest hike by 9 per cent has fully exposed Kejriwal’s ‘Bijli Half—Paani Maaf’ slogan,” Yadav added.

Yadav criticised the Kejriwal Government for allowing a 100 percent increase in power tariffs over the past 10 years under different heads, exploiting unaware power consumers. “The Kejriwal Government has deceived the people living in JJ clusters with 200 units of free power while allowing discoms to exploit 90 percent of Delhi’s power consumers,” he said.

“The Power Minister’s claim that lakhs of people are getting ‘free’ power and that the power tariff in Delhi is the cheapest is an outright lie.” he added.
