Offering condolences on behalf of the Delhi Congress, Yadav assured the family that he would take up the matter with the Police Commissioner and press for swift and stringent action against the perpetrators.
Describing the incident as deeply shocking and inhumane, Yadav expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the Capital.
“Since the BJP assumed power in Delhi over 100 days ago, law and order has collapsed. Women and children feel unsafe, even in their own homes,” he said, accusing the police of failing to provide basic security to citizens.
He stated that a delegation from the Delhi Congress would soon meet the Police Commissioner to demand immediate arrest of the culprits and the harshest punishment under law.
“Justice must not be delayed in such a heinous case. Rising drug abuse among jobless youth and lack of governance had made Delhi a breeding ground for crime,” Yadav said, blaming the current administration for what he termed the Capital’s descent into “jungle raj.”
Several senior Congress leaders, including former Delhi Minister Narendra Nath, ex-MLAs Bisham Sharma and Abdul Rehman, municipal councillor Javed Ansari and other key party members and district leaders, were accompanying Yadav.
Slamming the BJP-led “triple engine” government in Delhi — comprising the Centre, state and MCD — for its inaction, Yadav said even after high-level meetings involving Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Chief Minister, L-G and police officials, the ground situation had seen no improvement.
“Despite tall promises, Delhi continues to reel under rising crime and insecurity, much like it did under the previous regime,” he said.
