The Gurugram Police on Friday arrested the driver and owner of the Hyundai Santro car that was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run that claimed a 58-year-old businessman’s life, officials said.

According to the police, the accused driver, identified as Sahil (20) from Jharkhand, does not have a valid licence. He was currently staying in SGM Nagar, Faridabad, and worked at a private club. He has been booked under sections related to culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Police identified the car owner as Gagandeep Nagar (40), a resident of Nawada, Faridabad.

During interrogation, the accused said that on Wednesday morning, he was leaving the club and was driving the Santro car at a high speed when he lost of control over the vehicle, which led to the accident.

“We have recovered the Santro car. The accused driver was produced in a city court and sent into judicial custody. We are questioning the car owner,” police said.

58-year-old Amitabh Jain was killed in a hit-and-run in DLF Phase 2 area on Wednesday. He was cycling on Akashneem Marg around 7.15 am when a speeding car struck him from behind and fled.
