The police recovered more than 47 kg of cannabis worth around Rs 25 lakh.
The syndicate was operating between West Bengal and Delhi by transporting drugs on long-distance trains, hiding them inside trolley bags.
Those arrested were identified as Toni Singh (47), a resident of Subhash Nagar; Sultana (30) of Cooch Behar, West Bengal; Noor Jahan (32) of Jalpaiguri, West Bengal; and Santosh, alias Bhabhi (38), of the Okhla Industrial Area.
On November 9, the police got a tip-off about a major consignment of cannabis being delivered near Janakpuri District Park.
“Acting on the information, a raid was conducted at the said location and the cops successfully apprehended three suspects - Toni Singh, Sultana, and Noor Jahan – with trolley bags containing the contraband,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Darde Sharad Bhaskar in a statement.
The DCP said subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the fourth accused, Santosh, alias Bhabhi, a key receiver and supplier of narcotics in Delhi, on November 12.
The official mentioned that the syndicate received bulk supplies from West Bengal. Sultana and Noor Jahan transported the drugs to Delhi in long-distance trains, hiding them in trolley bags.
The official said Santosh worked as a local distributor. He used to collect the consignment from Noor and Sultana and further supplied it to Toni, who used to work as a facilitator in the local network.
