The committee will be chaired by Prof Rajni Abbi, Director of South Campus, DU, with Proctor Prof Manoj Kumar Singh and Prof Jyoti Sharma, faculty at Indraprastha College, as its members.
Prof Abbi told The Tribune that the committee would examine the allegations by the student and also record the statements of professors accused of harassment. The university would take action on the basis of the report, she added.
The move follows a viral video on social media in which a girl student from DU accused two professors of misconduct.
In a video on her social media handle, the student alleged that the head of her department called her to his office. She was pressured to delete the reels in which she accused him of harassment.
The student said the HoD told her, “Delete all the reels you posted against the professor. You are just a small part of this university. We can ruin a lot for you.”
The student further claimed in the video that she was denied her admit card after she posted the video. Some of her classmates went to the HOD and spoke against her.
“Seven or eight students went to the HOD and said the professor is right and I am wrong. These students sold themselves for 40 marks in the internal assessment. This is DU. Welcome to DU,” the girl says in the video.
Reacting to this, Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) vice-president Rahul Jhansla Yadav said, “Whatever happened is wrong. We are hopeful that the truth will be revealed soon.”
