New Delhi, August 3
Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh has announced that the university will utilise Class 12 Board exam marks to fill vacant seats after the conclusion of regular admission rounds. Last year, around 5,000 seats had remained vacant.
The university management’s decision comes following the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) August 1 guideline, allowing central universities to conduct their own exams to avoid vacant seats. However, DU has opted not to hold an additional exam. Admissions for DU’s 79 programmes across 69 colleges are currently in the second phase of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores will remain the primary admission criterion.
Meanwhile, Delhi University has announced the academic calendar for undergraduate courses for the 2024-2025 session. Classes are set to start on August 29.
The session was originally slated to begin on August 1 but it was delayed due to the late release of CUET scores amid allegations of irregularities.
Practical exams will begin on May 25, marking the end of classes, while the final exams will start on June 7. The second semester will commence on January 27 after a brief winter break. — TNS
