Former UK Prime Minister and founder of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, Tony Blair, called on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the Delhi Secretariat on Thursday for a high-level interaction focused on good governance, urban development and educational reform.

In the courtesy meeting, both leaders held an extensive dialogue on strengthening democratic institutions, innovation in governance, urban transformation and education reforms.

Welcoming Blair to the Capital, CM Rekha Gupta outlined Delhi’s transformation agenda under the vision of Viksit Dilli, highlighting reforms across public service delivery, education, healthcare, women empowerment, and environmental sustainability. She also detailed the government’s citizen-first approach to urban governance and modernisation of infrastructure.

Blair commended Delhi’s strides in technology-driven governance, particularly the use of digital platforms in education, health, and civic administration. He commended the the government’s proactive role in promoting inclusive and sustainable growth, and showed interest in learning more about innovations being implemented in school systems and environmental initiatives.

Calling the meeting “an enriching exchange of ideas and best practices,” the CM acknowledged the contributions of the Tony Blair Institute in promoting global democratic values and innovative public administration. She added that the government and the institute would explore avenues for collaboration aimed at enhancing governance capacity and public sector performance.
