New Delhi: The seven-day festival ‘Phool walon ki sair’ — an annual celebration of flower sellers — began here on Monday with an inauguration ceremony where a traditional floral fan was presented to Chief Minister Atishi. Addressing the event, Atishi said the festival “embodies the Ganga-Jamuni culture, which is increasingly significant in today’s world”. The organisers, along with shehnai players, arrived at the Delhi Secretariat to present the floral fan to the CM, marking the start of the celebration, according to a statement.

Prostitution racket busted

New Delhi: A prostitution trafficking racket operating under the guise of a unisex salon in South West Delhi was busted and four women were rescued, the police said on Monday. Based on a tip-off, a raid was conducted at Vasant Kunj north of Mahipalpur area on October 19, during which Amarjeet Diwivedi (21), a broker Rahul Kumar (22) and a woman Shilpi (40), who was working as a manager at the salon, were arrested.

Govt to set up courts for PwDs

New Delhi: Chief Minister Atishi has approved a project to set up special courts for the people with disabilities in the city, an official statement said on Monday. It’s a ‘historic step’ by the Delhi Government towards ensuring justice for people with disabilities, Atishi said in the statement.
